Tax code BR means all the pay from this job is taxed at the basic rate of 20%, with no tax-free Personal Allowance applied.
Why you might have it
- This is a second job or a pension, and your Personal Allowance is used by your main job.
- You started with us without a P45 and chose statement C on the starter checklist.
- HMRC hasn't yet received up-to-date information about your jobs.
What to do
If this is your only or main job, update your details with HMRC through the HMRC app or your personal tax account. HMRC will send us a new code and we'll apply it in your next pay. Any tax overpaid is refunded through payroll.
We can't change your tax code ourselves; we can only apply the code HMRC sends us.
